Cinquanta

The work Cinquanta was composed on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the percussion group Excelsior Oostendorp. It is also dedicated to one of the founders Wim van Norel.

Cinquanta has a spectacular opening and is continued with an Irish theme. The middle section of the work forms a beautiful contrast in 6/8 time signature. Towards the end the themes return and it closes as powerfully as it opened.
